From a Distance

I listened to a sermon today on our local Christian radio station. It was convicting!! The preacher's main point of the lesson was that many Christians today follow Jesus...from a distance. We believe and say we have faith. We profess contentment in our lives. We read our bible... when we get around to it and we pray...when we have time. The verse that the preacher focused on was
Luke 22:54.

Then they seized him and led him away, bringing him into the high priest's house,

and Peter was following at a distance.

He then went on to make the analogy of a lion on the prowl in the jungles of Africa. The zebra that follows the herd from a distance is the one who will be caught and devoured by the lion.

1 Peter 5:8

Be sober-minded, be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to be devoured.

This pricked my heart. I have been out of the habit of prayer and bible study.
Father, please forgive me!

1 John 3:20
For whenever our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart and he knows everything.

Let's not be devoured!!!
