Random

1. Snow/ice is in the forecast. Praying for snow and NO ice. We seem to always lose power in ice storms!!

2. I'm so glad it's Friday. So are the kids.

3. Claiming God's promises today.

We live by faith, NOT sight.
2 Corinthians 5:7

In Him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name.
Psalm 33:21

You will pray to him and he will hear you.

Messy Sweet

Last week was crazy sweet, full of runny noses, large splinters and tired cranky children.
Fortunately only minor surgery had to be performed!!

But in the middle of it all, we were blessed with a warm sunny day.
We took advantage of it and rushed to the park in fear of what tomorrow might bring.

I found little man at the back door enjoying the warmth and an interesting read!!

Sophie's nose has finally stopped running!!

Learning to love all that life has in it. The good, the bad and the ugly.
God is good... all the time!

This Little Light of Mine, I'm gonna let it SHINE!

2 Corinthians 4
For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.

Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

From the Outside looking In

I love to watch my children when they are not aware of my presence.
I have witnessed some very sweet moments...and not so sweet as well.
There is comfort in knowing that God is always watching over us!
His promises are like a cozy fire on a blustery day.

Psalm 121
A song of ascents.

I lift up my eyes to the hills—
where does my help come from?

My help comes from the LORD,
the Maker of heaven and earth.

He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber;

indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.

The LORD watches over you—
the LORD is your shade at your right hand;

the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.

The LORD will keep you from all harm—
he will watch over your life;

the LORD will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.

Intentional

For once you were full of darkness, but now you have light from the Lord. So live as people of light! For this light within you produces only what is good and right and true.

Carefully determine what pleases the Lord.

Ephesians 5:8-10

The 5th chapter of Ephesians is one of my very favorites in the bible.

How do we determine what pleases the Lord?

By knowing Him!

How do we know Him?

By spending time with Him.

How do we spend time with Him?

By intentionally studying His word!

This is my commitment for 2010!!!

TODAY

After a morning of yelling and hitting we are deep in the throes of learning...

Patience
Kindness
Self control.

Colossians 3:12-17 (English Standard Version)

Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Rejoice always;

pray without ceasing;

in everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

Cousins

We were quite surprised that both cousins requested the same gift from Nana and Papa this year!!
They had a blast with their machine guns.
No casualties, just a few close calls.
Boys are so much fun!

Expectant
Hopeful
New Year

Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with God's people who are in need. Practice hospitality.

Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position.[c] Do not be conceited.

Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay,"[d]says the Lord. On the contrary:
"If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.
In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head."[e] Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
Romans 12

I am hopeful for a great year with these words as my guide!!
