The Call of the Cardinal

A day and then a week passed by:
The redbird hanging from the sill
Sang not; and all were wondering why
It was so still—
When one bright morning, loud and clear,
Its whistle smote my drowsy ear,
Ten times repeated, till the sound
Filled every echoing niche around;
And all things earliest loved by me,—
The bird, the brook, the flower, the tree,—
Came back again, as thus I heard
The cardinal bird.

The lovely sound of our friend "Carlie" the cardinal has been fun to listen to each morning.
Today Carlie seemed to be enamored with his reflection in the window.
He has been looking at himself since daybreak and is still there attempting to get a glimpse of the pretty bird staring back at him!

  1. That's awesome, and a very familiar sound around here, too. We love cardinals! They're so bright and cheerful!

  2. Hi Kelli. Will you please say a prayer for two families? My Dad was in an awful car crash yesterday where two teenagers (18 year old boy and his 13 year old sister) were on their way to school and they lost control of their car and slammed into my Dad. He was hurt by the impact and the seatbelt and rushed to the hospital, but the two teenagers both passed. I am commenting instead of emailing in hopes of pooling some more prayers from this wonderful blog world. My Dad is heartbroken for the family who lost their only two children and it is going to take a long time for everyone to deal with this. One thing I did not mention is that the younger girl was in my Daughter's class, so there is an extra blow. You can pull up any Atlanta (AJC.com) or Rockdale County paper (rockdalecitizen.com)online and read. I know you, and I know that you will help me pray hard for the family, the friends and my Dad, who could not have prevented the crash, but has a tremendous emotional scar he will carry for the rest of his life. Thanks so much in advance.
