Sweet Things

These are my precious gifts from above. I'm honored to be their mom. Chloe is seven and has a heart of a servant, a gift from God. Sawyer is almost 5 and he lives up to the meaning of his name- hardworking. Sophia is 16 months old and she is a joy, full of energy. She is very busy... ALL THE TIME! My husband and I are amazed by the goodness of God. Watching our children grow reminds us daily that it's the simple things in life that bring true JOY!
We had a fun Saturday. The kids had breakfast out with Dad and then we watched my brothers take off in an airplane for an afternoon of flight. We ended the day by keeping our dear friends children so they could see "Fireproof". A great day!!

Those of you who know me are aware that I LOVE treasure hunting at thrift stores. I get a huge adrenaline rush from a good find. Caffeine for some, cheap stuff for me! These are a few of the latest finds and I need advice on the last one. According to the sticker on the bottom, it claims to be a turned wood candle tray. I need help on where would be nice home for it to rest. Thanks for any comments!!

Another Gift

I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.

3 John 1:4

As I sit here in front of the computer trying to decide what to say, I'm humbled by the graciousness of God. I KNOW in my mind that all things are from Him. As I let the STUFF of life bombard my small brain, I sometimes don't even think about the fact that each breath is a gift not to be taken for granted. Why do we let the awesomeness (Is that a word?) of God be forgotten? Let's make it a point to remind ourselves that God is at the center of our lives and let it be known to the world!!

I also wanted to let you know how the name of this blog came to be. My children love the song "Joy" that has the tune of Jingle Bells. The words are as follows:
Joy, joy

It must surely mean

Jesus first, yourself last and others in between.

I was struck by the simple yet profound message. God truly is the true source of joy, so it seemed to be a perfect name for a blog.

We had a crazy but fun day. We chose to participate in a Virtual Charter School for our 7 year old this year. I can't say that I love the curriculum, but we'll complete it and choose something else next year. My almost 5 year old attends a Montessori school and he loves it. All that "work" wears him out because he comes home exhausted! (LOL) Sophie is a typical toddler who is full of curiosity and mischief. Whew! I should be so skinny after chasing her all day, but... There's always tomorrow. A beautiful gift!

I have been tinkering with the idea of blogging for some time and FINALLY decided to add a post to a blog that was created over 2 months ago. Why the delay you ask? Fear, feelings of inadequacy and the big question...what would I say that would worthwhile? So here goes. I have been married for 16 years to a wonderful Godly man. After several years of infertility, our prayers were answered and we were blessed with 3 beautiful children. Chloe is seven, Sawyer is almost 5 and Sophie is 1. Our life is full of love and laughter with a little chaos thrown in for good measure. We are in our first year of homeschooling and have really enjoyed the experience. Sometimes I don't know which way is up, but I love being a mom. I consider it an honor to have the privilege to walk with Christ in this world and guide my children in the ways of Christ. Join me in this sometimes crazy life and let's strive to honor God while having a little fun along the way!
