Word of the Day

MERCY

“The act of sparing, or the forbearance of a violent act expected.”
Noah Webster’s 1828 Dictionary

Mercy--not getting what you do deserve / withheld punishment

Grace--getting what you don't deserve / unmerited favor

In the New Testament, the Greek word that is usually translated as "mercy" is the word "eleos."

Eleos is God's love poured out upon His people.

Psalm 103:8,10-14

The Lord is
compassionate and gracious,
slow to anger, abounding in love...
He does not treat us as our sins deserve
or repay us according to our iniquities.
For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
so great is his love for those who fear him;
as far as the east is from the west,
so far has he removed our transgression from us.
As a father has compassion on his children,
so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him;
for he knows how we are formed,
he remembers that we are dust.

THANKING GOD FOR HIS TENDER MERCIES TODAY!
