Show and Tell Time

Align Center

It's Show and Tell Time at A Familiar Path.
We spotted this grasshopper on a nature walk this weekend.
Since I am saving for a DSLR, I have only my trusty point and shoot camera.
Using the macro setting, I just held and breath and snapped away.
Swing by A Familiar Path and check out all the photographer's shots!

Thrifty Treasures

Monday, Monday!!
This is the craziest day of my week. How about you?
But I do love to take a little time out of this day to check out all the thrifty treasures that are out there!!!
Since school started last week for us, there was not much extra time for thrifting.
I was fortunate enough to find a few worthy items.

Chloe and I are fighting over this one. She wants to put it in her playhouse!!

This frame was UGLY brown.
I added a piece of card stock and a few other things that were lying around!
(no before picture)

I love this sweet little lamp! The best thing about it was that it was free!

Hooked on Anything Vintage

(Sorry for the poor quality of this wash board. I was too lazy to get another shot!!)

I'm so thankful that we don't have to wash clothes this way.
Oh how I love modern conveniences!

All these things came from my grandmother's home. I love them because she actually used them!!

Could you imagine having milk delivered to your front door? This would be awesome!

My grandmother loved to read and I treasure the books she gave me!
It's difficult to compare the books of today with the timeless classics!!

This is what I'm hooked on today.
How about you?
Head on over to Julia's and see what everyone else is talking about today!

The Tide

"THE TIDE

The tide recedes, but leaves behind
bright seashells on the sand.
The sun goes down, but gentle warmth
still lingers on the land.
The music stops, yet echoes on
in sweet, soulful refrains.
For every joy that passes,
something beautiful remains."

Happiness

Happiness is neither without us nor within us. It is in God, both without us and within us.

Little Boys

My husband borrowed a bobcat to do some work at my mother's house. Sawyer was in heaven!!
He ran inside out of breath and said,
"You're not going to believe what Dad has outside!!"
So we all just had to see.
He gave us the grand tour and told us what each thing controlled.
Boys are so different from little girls and it's exciting to witness what makes them tick.
We are proud to be raising a brave, fearless
man of God!!!

Tiny

We picked this tiny pumpkin for our tiny garden and marveled at it's tininess!!!

Linus: Each year, the Great Pumpkin rises out of the pumpkin patch that he thinks is the most sincere. He's gotta pick this one. He's got to. I don't see how a pumpkin patch can be more sincere than this one. You can look around and there's not a sign of hypocrisy. Nothing but sincerity as far as the eye can see.

Hooked on Seashells

Today, I'm hooked on seashells.
I have enjoyed being able to display the shells that we have found on our beach vacations this summer!!
Each time we look at them, our family is reminded of the beautiful memories that were made while searching for these shells.
What are you hooked on this Friday?
I'm linking up with Julia at Hooked on Houses.

Family Traditions

This is one of many traditions that our family began several years ago when our two oldest children were able to go Christmas carols. The children's chorus at our church always goes as a group to visit a few of our members who aren't able to get out. This is a wonderful way to share of themselves and to reinforce the idea that serving is a precious gift.
We also as a family go visit friends and family to deliver poinsettias on Christmas Eve. I could not find a picture of this, but I know it's somewhere out there.
Fridays at our house are always family night. We usually go out to eat and then watch a movie together or ride bicycles. It has become something we really look forward to and can't wait for Friday to arrive.
I am linking up to Emma Calls Me Mama for her Celebrating Day to Day party.
Swing by and see if you can get a few other ideas to begin family traditions of you own!!
What are your family traditions?

As we took a stroll in our garden weeds this morning, we spotted a few interesting things in nature.

I don't know what this is, but I would not want to meet it in a dark alley.
Any ideas?

The Real Me

Chloe and I recently listened to an audio version ofAnne of Green Gables.
The story was fantastic and Chloe loved it!!
(Thanks Julie!!)

Mrs. Cadbury: Tell me what you know about yourself.
Anne Shirley: Well, it really isn't worth telling, Mrs. Cadbury... but if you let me tell you what I IMAGINE about myself you'd find it a lot more interesting.

I thought this line was so funny because there are many times in my life that I don't share of the real me for fear that if others knew the real me, they would run away!!

Do you have special friends in your life that know the real you and love you anyway?

We have returned home after a long weekend at the beach.

we are so happy to be home!!!
